The International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), through the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL), the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (SOCA) and the International Institute of Islamic Civilisation and Malay World (ISTAC), is hosting a two-day conference to provide scholars and educators with a platform to present and discuss issues which concern language and culture in Asia-Pacific and beyond, and share their latest related research. This is the first time the three academic bodies have come together to co-host an event that will provide an opportunity for scholars from areas as diverse as anthropology, cultural studies, education, linguistics, literature and sociology to work towards a better understanding of language and culture in the region through their own research traditions and epistemologies as well as interdisciplinary alliances with one another. The conference is also a platform for participants and invited guests to showcase their creative work to an audience through artistic performances which are scheduled at the end of each conference day.
