A complete application should consist of the following items:
• A complete, signed application form; and
• Certified true Copy of Transcripts / Higher School Certificate (HSC) / GCE 'A' Level or equivalent; or
• Certified true Copy of GCE 'O' Level or equivalent; and
• Recommendation Letter (at least one from the authority bodies); and
• Applicant's Financial Statement and / or Undertaking Letter; or
• Applicant's Undertaking or Sponsorship Letter from the Government (for MBBS, Dentistry & Pharmacy applicants)
All enclosed academic records and other supporting documents must be certified true copies.

Malaysian Qualifications
General Requirements for Malaysians
The general academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM as follows:
- Minimum Requirements STPM / STAM / Diploma / Asasi UiTM / PASUM :
A Pass at the SPM level or equivalent with at least
• A Credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or equivalent
• A Credit in “Pendidikan Islam” / “Tasawwur Islam” / ”Pendidikan Al-Qur’an & As-Sunnah” / ”Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah” at the SPM level or equivalent;
• A Credit in any three (3) subjects in SPM/equivalent.
and
A Diploma or any other Equivalent Qualification with a CGPA 3.00 recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the University
or
A Pass at the STAM examination with at least Jayyid Jiddan:
or
A Pass at the STPM examination with a CGPA of 3.00 or at least:
• Grade C [Subject Grade Point (SGP)] of 2.00 in the General Paper;
• Grade C [Subject Grade Point (SGP)] of 2.00 in two [2] of other subject taken.
and
Obtained a required Band in the “Malaysian University English Test” (MUET) as specify by each programmes.

International Qualifications
The general academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM are:
- At least three (3) principal passes in the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’ (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Educational System) obtained in one sitting; OR
- International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum of six (6) subjects obtained in one sitting; OR
- Any other qualifications that are recognized by the Senate of the University as equivalent to the above
Specific Requirements
Malaysian Qualifications
The applicant must fulfill the general academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM; click here (Updated for September 2013/2014 Intake).

International Qualifications
Applicants must also have the following subjects taken at the above mentioned examinations ('A' level, IB or any other equivalent certificates):
- Strong in Mathematics (for applicants to the undergraduate programme in all programmes offered except for Bachelor of Arabic).
- Strong in two other subjects in the intended field of study.

Note:-
- The University will determine the merit and suitability of the applicant's academic grades received from home country.
- The University reserve the right to determine an alternative relevant subject to Mathematics in the case that he applicant has not taken the subject in his/her examinations.
In addition to the above qualifications, applicants for the MBBS and Pharmacy programme must also have at least three principal passes in the GCE 'A' Level examination or equivalents in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. At the moment the University may consider applicants for MBBS with a full scholarship from their own governments.
Applicants to the undergraduate programme in Engineering must also have three principal passes including two (2) in Mathematics and Physics. The third subject may be chosen from other Science subjects which may include Additional mathematics, Chemistry or Biology.

Language Requirements
English and Arabic are the two primary languages used for instruction in the University, depending on the specific programme of study.
Applicants wishing to pursue their studies in programmes with English as medium of instruction must present a score of 550 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Band 6.0 the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) (Academic) with a minimum Band of 5.5 for each of the Skills - Writing, Reading, Listening/ Speaking (WRLS).
It is compulsory for those who apply for Bachelor of English Language and Literature to obtain Band 6.5 the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) (Academic) with a minimum Band of 6.0 for each of the Skills - Writing, Reading, Listening/ Speaking (WRLS).
Alternatively, they may sit for the IIUM-administered English Placement Test (EPT) and obtain a minimum of 6.0 points to fulfill the English language requirement.
Applicants interested in programmes with Arabic as a medium of instruction must achieve an exemption after sitting for the IIUM-administered Arabic Placement Test (APT).
Applicants who are unable to submit satisfactory results in any of the above tests may take up language proficiency courses at the University to fulfill the admission requirements.
Other Requirements
Applicants should note that normally there are more applications than places available at the University. The fulfillment of the minimum entrance requirements alone does not guarantee admission into the University.
Enrolment of New Students
All new students are required to enroll at least one week before the classes start. Failure to matriculate in the specified period may result in the revocation of the offer of admission by the University.
Students who have been issued an offer of admission may apply to defer their studies for a maximum of one academic year. The period of deferment will not be included in the total duration of their studies.
