Assoc. Prof. Dr. YumiZuhanis Has-Yun Hashim, graduated from the UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia with B. Biomed. Sc. (Hons) in 1999. While pursuing her Masters in Bioprocess Engineering, in Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant (now Insitute of Bioproduct Development, IBD), UniversitiTeknologi Malaysia, she joined the International Islamic University Malaysia as an Assistant Lecturer in 2001. She graduated with PhD in Nutrition and Cancer from the Northern Ireland Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Ulster, United Kingdom in 2007. She then spent two years at the Institute of Food and Health, University College Dublin, Ireland as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Mike Gibney. In 2009, she resumed the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology Engineering, Kulliyyah of Engineering. Dr. Yumi was appointed a Fellow member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), UK in 2013 and was later promoted to Associate Professor in 2014. Dr. Yumi was a Student Academic Advisor for the Department of Biotechnology Engineering (June 2010 – September 2011) and a former Deputy Director at the IIUM International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) (Commercialization and Entrepreneurship;June 2011 – June 2013; Academic and Training; June –December 2014). In early 2015, she was a Visiting Academic to the Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, Australia. She has published more than 30 journal articles in scientific publications as well as several books. She is also actively involved as reviewer in various scientific journals and serves as an Editorial member for Current Metabolomics since 2013. Having a multidisciplinary background, Dr. Yumi is interested in the provision of healthy lifestyle and prevention of diseases through the development, use and or consumption of natural products; using mammalian cell culture bioprocessing tools. Her current work focused on agarwood as a source of health beneficial compounds.
