IIUM Postgraduate Scholarships

 

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies, IIUM offering a range of PG Scholarships in order to assist and encourage students to excel in their academic studies as well as serving the Ummah through supporting the students in developing their personal ability and academic qualifications.

Categories of the IIUM Postgraduate Scholarship:

There are four (4) types of scholarship that are to be offered to the postgraduate student:

  • President’s Scholarship
  • Rector’s Scholarship
  • Niche – Area Scholarship
  • Postgraduate Assistantship

(Only PG student who has completed one semester is eligible to apply)

1. CGPA – 3.90 or above

3. Must not be a recipient of any scholarship

4. Must not be an employee (Government or

5. At least two (2)  ISI journal with one (1) impact factor

 

 

1.Monthly allowance:-

    -Master Degree  - RM1,000.00

    - Ph.D – RM1,500.00

2. Waive:-

     - Tuition Fees

     - Recurrent Fees

     - Mahallah Fees.

3. Will be employed as GTA or GRA at the relevant Kulliyyahs.

Rector

 

1. CGPA – 3.67 or above

2. Full time student

3. Must not be a recipient of any scholarship

4. Must not be an employee (Government or

    private

5. At least two (2)  ISI journal

 

 

1. Monthly allowance:-

    -Master Degree  - RM800.00

    - Ph.D – RM1,000.00

2. Waive:-

     - Tuition Fees

     - Recurrent Fees

     - Mahallah Fees

3. Will be employed as GTA or GRA at the relevant Kulliyyahs.

Niche Area

 

1. Ph. D full time student only

2. Mode of programme by Research.only

3. At least two (2)  ISI journal with one (1) impact factor

4. Thesis title should be in one of the following:-

  • Globalization and WTO
  • Functional Food and Nutraceuticals
  • Bioenvironmental Engineering
  • Women for Progress
  • Biomolecular Engineering
  • Halal Industry
  • Land Industry
  • Land Tenure and Environment
  • Assessment in Higher Education
  • Nanotechnology
  • Islamic Banking & Finance
  • Harmonization of Laws & Sha’riah
  • Electoral Studies
  • Applied Biomedical

 

 

1.Monthly allowance:-

    - Ph.D – RM1,500.00

2. Waive:-

     - Tuition Fees

     - Recurrent Fees

     - Mahallah Fees

3. Will be employed as GTA or GRA at the relevant Kulliyyahs.

PG Assistantship

 

1. CGPA – 3.50 or above

2. Full time student

3. Must not be a recipient of any scholarship

4. Must not be an employee (Government or

    private

5. To write and submit one article in reputable international journal.

 

 

1. Waive:-

     - Tuition Fees

     - Recurrent Fees

2. Will be employed as GTA or GRA at the relevant Kulliyyahs.

 
 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION ON SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. Period of scholarship:

The Scholarships will be awarded to successful student for 1 year (Semester 1 & 2 ), however student may apply fresh application for the following semester if the student is not exceeded the normal study period.

  1. Signing of the Scholarship Agreement:

The successful candidate is required to sign the scholar agreement with the University (IIUM).

3.       Suspension of Scholarship

  • Student who have granted study leave / medical leave are not eligible for the scholarship for the period of the leave.
  • The scholarship will be suspended automatically if the students DO NOT obtain a CGPA or the Research Progress Report Rating Scale. As such, the students will be required to pay the fees during suspension period.
  • Students who register below the minimum credit hours required (< 9 Cr Hrs) will not receive the scholarship for that particular semester.
  1. Termination of scholarship:

The scholar can be terminated by the University by giving 30 days notice to the student.

The University holds the right to terminate the scholar, without any prior notice if the recipient:

  1. Is guilty of breaching the Students’ Discipline Rules 1984 ( amendment 2004); 
  2. Is found guilty of misconduct improper moral behaviors;
  3. Fails to maintain good academic performance;
  4. Is not allowed to continue his / her studies;
  5. Is not fulfill  / fails to complete his / her studies;
  6. Is certified to be medically unfit to continue his / her studies.

 

Amendments to the Rules and Regulations:

 The Board of the IIUM Postgraduate Scholarship reserves the right to add / vary / amend or alter the rules and regulations of the scholarship from time to time / whenever deemed necessary.

  1. Download appllication form.
  2. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) will made an announcement through website and notice board of CPS and relevant kulliyyahs.
  3. Completed application form should be submitted to:
