The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has embarded on the implementation of the quality management system (QMS) based on the ISO 9001:2008 standard requirements since June 2002 in which the focus is on "Teaching and Learning" processes. In relation to that, other faculties/divisions/centers have also embarked on the QMS implementation, and are now ISO 9000 certified.

In order to ensure that all the processes and procedures are adhered and the QMS implementation is in place, the Internal Audit exercises have thus been conducted from time to time. According to the findings of the internal audit exercises, there has been a lot of improvement in these faculties/divisions/centers that have implemented this system. The Internal Audit exercises have been instrumental especially in the area of continual improvement activities at these agencies.
