A. IIUM FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

 

1. What is IIUM Financial Assistance?

The Financial Assistance is a one-off financial aids awarded to poor, needy, deserving and academically outstanding students to reduce their outstanding debt with the University. 

 

2. Who can apply for IIUM Financial Assistance?

     Student who can fulfill all the following criteria:

·         Registered as full-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate student

·         Second year student at Kulliyyah level and above

·         Do not receive any other scholarship/loan or no longer receiving  the scholarship/loan

·         Student with CGPA of 2.0 and above

·         Dire need student as identified by the University authority.

 

3. Who is not eligible to apply?

 

·         student who is still under pre-sessional and bridging programme

·         student under Executive programme at SBU’s.

 

4. What does the IIUM Financial Assistance cover?

 

It is one off financial aids for reduction of outstanding debt, especially the tuition fee.

 

5. How do I apply for IIUM Financial Assistance?

Normally the application for Financial Assistance will be opened during the 2nd or 3rd week of a regular semester. The Finance Division will make an announcement through IIUM website (http://www.iium.edu.my/news-updates/announcements), facebook (www.facebook.com/studentunit.iium) and notices at all Kulliyyahs and Mahallat.

 

6. How soon will I be notified of the result?

 

You will be notified within a month after the interview session. The result will be posted on the  Student and Scholarship Unit/mahallah notice board or via e-mail, letter or phone call.

 

7. I am a third year student and right now doing intensive/practical training. The monthly allowance   

given to me by the company is not enough for my daily expenses. Can I apply for financial assistance to support my daily expenses during my intensive/practical training?

 

The one off financial assistance offered by the University is only meant to help student in reducing their outstanding debt especially the tuition fee but does not cover subsistence allowance (food and daily expenses). However, for needy student, they may apply assistance from IIUM Zakat Unit.

 

 

B. IIUM FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR GRADUATING STUDENT

 

1.       I have just completed my study and my status is now graduated. Is there any financial aids provided by the University’s to reduce my outstanding debt?

 

The University provides financial aids for graduating student who has an outstanding debt with the University, subject to the following conditions:

 

·         The availability of the fund

·         The student just recently graduated  

·         Do not receive any scholarship

·         Needy and having financial constraint

·         Approval from the University’s authority

 

 

2.       Who is not eligible to apply for financial assistance?

 

·         Student under Executive programme at SBU’s.

·         Dismissed or withdraw from the University. 

 

3.       How do I apply for the Financial Assistance to settle my final debt?

 

The application for financial assistance can be made once the status of your study is changed from Active to Graduated (Please refer to your financial statement). You must write a letter to the Deputy Finance Director, Student and Scholarship Unit, Finance Division, explaining the situation and attach your final Financial Statement.

 

4.       How soon will I be notified of the result?

You will be notified within a week i.e after getting an approval from the University’s authority.

 

5.       I have a huge amount of outstanding debt with the University and right now I am unable to pay the full amount of debt due to financial constraint. Can I collect my full transcript and certificate after making certain payment?

 

You have to settle the full outstanding debt with the University for clearance. The University has the right to hold your full transcript and certificate until such payment being made. 

 

C. IIUM UG UMMATIC SCHOLARSHIP

 

1. What is IIUM UG Ummatic Scholarship?

The IIUM Undergraduate Ummatic Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to poor, needy, deserving and academically outstanding students in recognition of their achievement, study at IIUM.

 

2. Who can apply for IIUM Ummatic Scholarship?

     Student who can fulfill all the following criteria:

·         Registered as full-time Undergraduate student

·         Second year student and above (at the Kulliyyah level)

·         Do not receive any other scholarship

·         Dire need student (needy) as identified by the University authority

·         Student with excellence academic standing (CGPA of 3.6 and above – with minimum of 15 credit hours)

(Student from Muslim minority country with lower CGPA (at least 3.0) may apply for the scholarship).

 

3. Who is not eligible to apply?

 

·         Student under critical programmes offered by the University i.e related medical programme, executive programme and other programme as determined by the University.

 

·         student who is still under pre-sessional and bridging programme

 

4. What does the IIUM Ummatic Scholarship cover?

All fees incur by the University’s as follows:

·         Tuition fee

·         Related fee

·         Monthly allowance

·         Hostel fee

·         Book allowance

·         Insurance (once only)

 

5. How do I apply for IIUM UG Ummatic scholarship?

Normally the application for Malaysian tuition fee will be opened during the 2nd or 3rd week of a regular semester. The Finance Division will make an announcement through IIUM website (www.iium.edu.my), facebook (www.facebook.com/studentunit.iium) and notices at all Kulliyyahs and Mahallat.

 

6. How soon will I be notified of the result?

You will be notified within a month after the interview session. Please refer to the Student and Scholarship Unit notice board for the result.

 

D. IIUM ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD

 

1. What is IIUM Academic Excellence Award?

The IIUM Academic Excellence Award is an award given to academically outstanding students in recognition of their achievement, study at IIUM.

 

2. Who can apply for IIUM Academic Excellence Award?

     Student who can fulfill all the following criteria:

·         Registered as full-time Undergraduate student

·         Second semester student at Kulliyyah level and above

·         Student with excellence academic standing (CGPA of 3.8 and above based on the University’s general academic workload policy (at least 15.0 credit hours)

·         Self-sponsored and loan recipient only (please attach the loan offer letter).

 

3. Who is not eligible to apply?

 

·         Student under critical programmes offered by the University i.e related medical programme, executive programme and other programme as determined by the University.

 

·         student who is still under pre-sessional and bridging programme

 

4. What does the IIUM Ummatic Scholarship cover?

Exemption from tuition fee ONLY.

 

5. How do I apply for IIUM Academic Excellence Award?

Normally the application for Malaysian tuition fee will be opened during the 2nd or 3rd week of a regular semester. The Finance Division will make an announcement through IIUM website (www.iium.edu.my), facebook (www.facebook.com/studentunit.iium) and notices at all Kulliyyahs and Mahallat.

E. IIUM TUITION FEE REDUCTION

 

1. What is IIUM Tuition Fee Reduction?

The IIUM Tuition Fee Reduction is a financial assistance given to poor, needy and deserving International Undergraduate students to reduce their tuition fee charged by the University.

 

2. Who can apply for IIUM Tuition Fee Reduction?

     Student who can fulfill all the following criteria:

·         International student

·         Registered as full-time Undergraduate student

·         Second year student at Kulliyyah level and above

·         Do not receive any other scholarship

·         Student with CGPA of 2.5 and above based on the University’s general academic workload policy (at least 15.0 credit hours)

·         Needy student.

 

3. Who is not eligible to apply?

 

·         Student under critical programmes offered by the University i.e related medical programme, executive programme and other programme as determined by the University.

 

·         student who is still under pre-sessional and bridging programme

·         Malaysian student

 

4. What does the IIUM Tuition Fee Reduction cover?

 

There are 2 types of tuition fee reduction:

·         Tuition Fee Reduction B: 50% subsidize

·         Tuition Fee Reduction C: Up to 88% reduction (20% above Malaysian tuition fee rate)

 

5. How do I apply for IIUM Tuition Fee Reduction?

Normally the application for Malaysian tuition fee will be opened during the 2nd or 3rd week of a regular semester. The Finance Division will make an announcement through IIUM website (www.iium.edu.my), facebook (www.facebook.com/studentunit.iium) and notices at all Kulliyyahs and Mahallat.

 

               

6. How soon will I be notified of the result?

F. MALAYSIAN TUITION FEE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

 

1. What is Malaysian Tuition Fee for International?

The Malaysian Tuition Fee is a financial assistance currently given to Palestinian students who are  staying in Gaza or any conflict area in Palestine. This rate is given for ONLY ONE level of study at IIUM.  

 

2. Who can apply for Malaysian Tuition Fee?

     Student who can fulfill all the following criteria:

·         Registered as full-time Undergraduate and Postgraduate student from Palestine

·         Second semester student at Kulliyyah level and above

·         Do not receive any other scholarship

·         Student with at least CGPA of 2.5 and above based on the University’s general academic workload policy (at least 15.0 credit hours)

·         Needy student.

 

3. Who is not eligible to apply?

·         Student under critical programmes offered by the University i.e related medical programme, executive programme and other programme as determined by the University.

 

·         student who is still under pre-sessional and bridging programme

·         Student who has already enjoyed receiving Malaysian tuition fee rate during their Undergraduate/postgraduate programme. This facility is only given ONCE to Palestinian student study at IIUM.

 

4. What does the Malaysian Tuition Fee cover?

 

The rate of tuition fee charged is the same as Malaysian student studying in IIUM.

 

5. How do I apply for IIUM Malaysian Tuition Fee?

Normally the application for Malaysian tuition fee will be opened during the 2nd or 3rd week of a regular semester. The Finance Division will make an announcement through IIUM website (www.iium.edu.my), facebook (www.facebook.com/studentunit.iium) and notices at all Kulliyyahs and Mahallat.

 

6. How soon will I be notified of the result?

You will be notified within a month after the interview session. The result will be posted on the  Student and Scholarship Unit notice board/mahallah or via e-mail, letter or phone call.
