OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide opportunity for graduates with relevant working experience to acquire knowledge and training for a career in businesses.
  2. To train executives desiring specialization in Business Law in order to assist in the expanding corporate sector, banking and finance industry.
  3. To provide opportunity for fresh graduates in related disciplines to pursue a Postgraduate Degree in Business law in order to prepare them to enter into job market in the corporate and financial sector.
  4. To assist the country in developing workforce with expert knowledge, relevant and up-to-date information about contemporary and emergent theoretical, empirical and policy related developments in the field of business law.
  5. To provide the platform and opportunity to enhance or to update their existing professional or vocational qualications in a fast-moving policy arena. This is for professionals and practitioners who may already have appropriate qualications and experience in the field of Business law;
  6. To offer courses to produce work force that can demonstrate mastery of the various areas of contemporary Business law with ability to view them from the conventional and Islamic perspectives; with ability to comprehend, analyze and solve various legal problems at the corporate and national levels.
  7. To provide adequate grounding in legal research skills and training which will be useful for those wishing to practice in the field of business and corporate sector where knowledge of an expert, relevant and up-to-date information about contemporary and emergent theoretical, empirical and policy related developments in the field of Business Law are essential.
  8. To have the opportunity to enhance or to update their existing professional or vocational qualications in a fast-moving policy arena. This is for professionals and practitioners who may already have appropriate qualications and experience in the field of Business Law.

Duration : 3 Years (5 Semester)

  2. Advanced Contract Law

Semester  2

  1. Islamic Law of Transactions
  2. Corporate Governance

Semester  3

  1. Commercial & Consumer Protection Law
  2. Islamic Finance Contract

Semester  4

  1. Corporate Finance Law
  2. Securities Industries Corporate Governance Law

Semester  5

  1. Revenue Law

Elective Course (Choose ONE Only)

  1. International Trade Law
  2. Takeover & Mergers
  3. Property Law
  4. Intellectual Property Law

Entry Requirements

  1. The candidates must have a Bachelor of Laws with Honours [LL.B. (Hons)] or
  2. Any other degree with two years working experience in the related eld or
  3. Any other equal qualication approved by the kulliyyah.

English Prociency

  1. Produce satisfactory proof of prociency of English language either Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) with scoreof 600 or test administered by the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with score of 6.0, or
  2. Under special circumstances, an applicant who is unable to present the required TOEFL or IELTS score shall be required to sit and pass the IIUM-administered English Placement Test. (EPT). The minimum score for EPT is 6.0, or
  3. Provide proof of attendance or prior education in English-medium institutions that may be exempted from the requirement of TOEFL, IELTS and EPT at the discretion of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws postgraduate Admissions committee.
