Registration

There are 3 steps of registration for a candidate throughout his/her study period

1)Ph.D candidate needs to fill in the "Registration of Research Proposal" form and submit to IIiBF office in the 1st week of his/her 1st semester of writing proposal

2)(Before proposal defense) Ph.D candidate needs to fill in "Research Proposal Progress Report" form and submit to IIiBF office in week 11th of his/her current semester for next semester registration

3)(After proposal defense) Ph.D candidate needs to fill in "Research Progress Report" form and submit to IIiBF office in week 11th of his/her current semester for next semester registration

Please take note that, student must register every semester  

Request to Defense Proposal

A full time Ph.D candidate must register for the research proposal before the end of 3rd regular semester of his/her studies.

A part time Ph.D candidate must register for the research proposal before the end of 5th regular semester of his/her studies.

The Ph.D candidate is required to fill in the form and submit to IIiBF office.

Supervision

Ph.D candidates are given the opportunity to request his/her supervisor by fill in the form and submit to IIiBF office. The approval for supervisory committee is subject to Institute Academic Meeting decision.

Submission of Theses

Before viva

Ph.D candidate must fill in the "Notification of intention to submit research work" and submit to IIiBF office 4 months before the submission of his/her theses

For viva

Document must be submitted to IIiBF office for viva:

1) Certification of completion of Research work form

2) Turn-it-in report run by the supervisor

3) 5 copies of temporary bound of the theses After viva Document must be submitted to IIiBF office

After viva

Document must be submitted to IIiBF office for viva: 

1) Review Theses Binding form

2) Theses Correction Form (will be given by CPS officer after viva) 

3) Certification of Revision of Research Work form (will be given by CPS officer after viva)

4) Monthly post-viva report (will be given by CPS officer after viva)

5) English and Arabic abstract (verified by recognized party)

6) 2 copies of completed hardbound theses & Softcopy in CD-R

 

Graduation Requirements

1) Completed required courses

2) Fulfill English language requirement as per required by the University 

3) Publication

POLICY ON PUBLICATION AS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT Graduating IIiBF students are required to publish at least 2 (two) articles for Ph.D candidates. This requirement is affective starting Semester II, 2012/2013 (for student with Matric No. G122xxxx). Followings are the details of the policy:

1. The publication is sources from projectpaper/research paper/thesis or any academic work in the source of the study at IIiBF

2. Publication must be co-authored with the IIiBF appointed supervisor/IIiBF academic staff

3. The publication must be affiliated to “IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia”

4. Prior to submitting the manuscript to journals, it should be submitted to IIiBF Working Paper Series.

5. Paper must be published/accepted for publication in refereed/reviewed journal listed or indexed in Scopus/ERA/EBSCO, or related journal endorsed by IIiBF in the field of Islamic Banking and Finance.
