Bachelor of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage in Islamic Jurisprudence

The undergraduate programme provides students with a good grounding in the fields of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh. It offers a wide range of courses on the subject matters of Islamic law (Fiqh) and its legal theory (Usul al-Fiqh).

This programme will bridge the gap between theoretical discourse and practical demands of societies. Accordingly, the programme intends to impart in the students the spirit of creative articulation of fiqhi thoughts and methodologies to solve present juridical problems affecting Muslims through Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements are according to the following tracks:

TRACK 1
A pass in the Higher School Certificate (STPM) with a CGPA of 3.00 or at least:

  • A C grade with a 2.0 point in the General Paper
  • A C grade with a 2.0 point in any two relevant subjects

                            AND
A pass in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) or its equivalent with at least:

  • A credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia
  • A B grade in Pendidikan Islam/Tassawur Islam/Pengajian Qur’an dan Sunnah/Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah
  • A B+ in Bahasa Arab Tinggi or A- in Bahasa Arab Komunikasi
  • A credit in Mathematics
  • A D grade in English language
  • A credit in any two other subjects


TRACK 2                      
A Diploma or its equivalent with a CGPA of 3.00, provided that it is approved by the Malaysian Government and endorsed by the University Senate
                            AND
A pass in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) or its equivalent with at least:

  • A credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia
  • A B grade in Pendidikan Islam/Tassawur Islam/Pengajian Qur’an dan Sunnah/Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah
  • A B+ in Bahasa Arab Tinggi or A- in Bahasa Arab Komunikasi
  • A credit in Mathematics
  • A D grade in English language
  • A credit in any two other subjects


TRACK 3
A pass in the relevant Centre for Foundation Studies programme with a minimum CGPA of 2.25.

TRACK 4
A pass in the Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with at least a Jayyid Jiddan grade.
                           AND
A pass in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) or its equivalent with at least:

  • A credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia
  • A B grade in Pendidikan Islam/Tassawur Islam/Pengajian Qur’an dan Sunnah/Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah
  • A B+ in Bahasa Arab Tinggi or A- in Bahasa Arab Komunikasi
  • A credit in Mathematics
  • A D grade in English language
  • A credit in any two other subjects


In all the tracks above, a minimum of Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) is required.

TRACK 5
A pass in overseas qualifications deemed by the Senate to be equivalent to GCSE A Level with good grades.

In all the tracks, a minimum Arabic Placement Test (APT) score of 6.0 and a minimum English Placement Test (EPT) score of 5.5 are required.
