BACKGROUND AND SCOPE
The term ‘Green’ in the built environment is nothing new. However, available literature suggests that the term has been overly emphasised, exaggerated, commercialised and to some extent abused. In Malaysia, we often come across new developments labeled as ‘Green’ with Index rated system such as the application of Green Building Index (GBI). Consequently, it would appear that the real meaning of ‘green’ in a sustainable development has little meaning or impact.
