Programme Description
Academic Concept
It is a four years degree programme after successful completion of IIUM's matriculation programme. While the emphasis of the matriculation programme is in preparing the students with SPM with Language skills (English and Arabic), it also provides them with basic foundation on environmental design fields. STPM and GCE 'A' Level applicants need to complete a presessional semester before entering the programme
Career Opportunities
- Job prospects for Bachelor on Applied Arts and Design graduates includes:
- Conservation and Preservation consultant/ adviser on art and architectural heritage: with the Local Authorities (e.g. DBKL), Badan Warisan Malaysia or Department of Museum and Antiquity.
- Interior Designer in private sectors ; Interior design consultant in architectural firms and developer’s offices.
- Designer: in the areas of furniture design, stage design or prop design .
- Industrial Designer : in the areas of product design, rapid-prototypes and conceptual industrial design
- Specialists in Computer Aided Design : in the fields of interior design, industrial design and conservation and Research Officer (with universities, research institutions, NGO’s or private firms)

Entry Requirements
Admission Requirements
- 3 Principals passes in the STPM, obtained in one sitting OR
- 3 Principals passes in the CGE 'A' Level, obtained in one sitting OR
- Any other certificate recognised by the Senate of IIUM as equivalent to the above
Language Requirements
English is the primary medium of instruction. All applicants should submit a score of 550 in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 6.0 points in the IELTS (International English Language Testing Services) orEPT (English Placement Test). The last is administrated by IIUM. Candidates who do not meet the above requirements may take up language proficiency courses within the university to achieve the required standard. Arabic is employed as a secondary medium of instructions.
