Department of Economics
Undergraduate courses offered by the department seek to develop in students an ability to think critically from a firm grounding in the sources of Islam in order to contribute to efforts to apply divine guidance to the understanding and direction of contemporary economics activities. The Bachelor of Economics program provide a foundation for employment in the relevant field or further studies at the postgraduate level while allowing each student to explore subfields of the disipline.
A student is strongly encouraged to select some of his or her elective courses from other departments and kulliyyahs in order to gain a breadth of knowledge that will enable him/her to play an effective role in society. A student is also encouraged to do practical training after the completion of six semesters of the programme. The practical training that is satisfactorily completed will appear on the student’s official transcript.
