The general academic requirements for admission into the Master of Library and Information Science by Research are as follows:
1. Students whose bachelor degrees in library studies, information studies, and in library and information science from local as well as international institutions of higher learning with a CGPA of not less than 2.80.
2. Students with Diploma in Library Science from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with a CGPA of not less than 2.80.
3. Students with the ALA (Associate of the Library Association, UK) qualifications who have had substantial experience in library work.
Other Requirements
* At least 2 years of working experience in library related area.
* A potentially viable topic worthy of scholarly inquiry at the master’s level.
* For local students, they need to have English language proficiency as determined by the IIUM English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score of 6.0.
* For international students, they need to have TOEFL 550 or 6.0 in IELTS if their degrees are from universities where English is not the medium of instruction, OR English language proficiency as determined by the IIUM English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score of 6.0.

Entry Requirements
The general academic requirements for admission into the Master of Library and Information Science by Research are as follows:
1. Students whose bachelor degrees in library studies, information studies, and in library and information science from local as well as international institutions of higher learning with a CGPA of not less than 2.80.
2. Students with Diploma in Library Science from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with a CGPA of not less than 2.80.
3. Students with the ALA (Associate of the Library Association, UK) qualifications who have had substantial experience in library work.
Other Requirements
* At least 2 years of working experience in library related area.
* A potentially viable topic worthy of scholarly inquiry at the master’s level.
* For local students, they need to have English language proficiency as determined by the IIUM English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score of 6.0.
* For international students, they need to have TOEFL 550 or 6.0 in IELTS if their degrees are from universities where English is not the medium of instruction, OR English language proficiency as determined by the IIUM English Placement Test (EPT) with a minimum score of 6.0.
