Academic Quality and Industrial Linkages (AQIL)

Overview

The department of Academic Quality and Industrial Linkages (AQIL) is under the purview of the Office of Deputy Dean of Academic & Industrial Linkages (ODDAIL). The office operates similarly like the Office of Knowledge for Change and Advancement (KCA) but at the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) level.

Objectives

The main function of the Department of AQIL is to maintain and improve the quality of education offered by the CFS.

‘Quality’ means meeting the requirements of the party that receives the product or service. A good quality of education at CFS means offering academic programmes in which it best equips students with the knowledge and skills required to enter their respective kulliyyah. In doing so, there are two main elements involved in improving and maintaining the quality of education at the centre:

a. Reviewing quality of education

  • To act as secretariat for Programme and Curriculum Committee (PCC) assisting the ODDAIL
  • To liaise with the Office of KCA on matters relating to quality assurance of academic programmes offered by the Centre
  • To coordinate and monitor ISO process relating to academic matters at the central level
  • To coordinate the process of vetting examination questions from the academic departments of CFS and their respective Kulliyyah
  • To coordinate and monitor the running of Foundation Programme conducted by IIUM Academy of Graduate and Professional Studies (ACADEMY)

b. Improving the quality of education

  • To establish and maintain a mutual understanding of quality compliance requirements and the processes involved with the academic departments of CFS
  • To initiate effort towards educational quality improvement such as training programmes
  • To promote innovation in academic activities
