ORGANISATIONAL CHART



                          

OVERVIEW

The Department of Islamic Revealed Knowledge is one of the largest departments at the Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM. It offers core courses to its own students who specialise in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (IRKH), Human Sciences (HS), Arabic (BAR) and English (BEN) programmes; with English and Arabic as the medium of interactions. Apart from that, University required courses which are compulsory for all the students of the Centre are offered to enhance students’ knowledge on Islam and to inculcate Islamic values in them. The courses include Understanding Islam, Basic Themes of al-Qur’an and Religions in Malaysia. Additionally, department required courses which are compulsory for all students of the department are offered to instil in them necessary skills to prepare them to undertake an intense and challenging undergraduate studies in the main campus. These courses include Introduction to Creative and Critical Thinking Skills and Basic Research Methods and Report Writing.

The department is also home to a team of dedicated and experienced academic staff from various cultures and nationalities. Though the staff are streamlined according to their expertise and specialisation to teach various programmes, they are capable of undertaking multi disciplined courses. They are also deeply involved in revising and improving the course contents so as to make it updated, relevant, practical and useful for the ever-changing needs and issues of the Muslim Ummah and the world.


OBJECTIVES

The department aims at moulding students into becoming well-rounded, high-achievers equipped with sound faith (ÔmÉn), knowledge (ÑIlm) and good conduct (AkhlÉq). They are taught to lead by example, to become useful, contributive and relevant to the Muslim Ummah and the world.


 

  • RKF0414A المدخل إلى القرآن والسنة

تشتمل هذه المادة على قسمين هما علوم القرآن وعلوم الحديث، حيث أن كل قسم يحتوي على التعريفات المتعلقة بالمطلحات الهامة لهذه العلوم بجانب دراسة تطورها من الناحية العلمية وحركة تدوينها. كما تشمل هذه المادة أشهر المصنفات لهذه العلوم.      


  •  RKF0424Aمدخل إلى العقيدة وأصول الدين

يشمل هذا المساق أركان العقيدة الإسلامية وأسسها من القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية مع بيان التعاليم المنحرفة عنها، ويتضمن كذلك المقارنة بين العقيدة الإسلامية والعقائد الأخرى من المشركين  واليهود والنصارى إجمالاً.


  • RKF0434A مدخل إلى الفقه وأصول الفقه

يشمل المقرر مفهوم الفقه وأصول الفقه مبينا وجوه الاتفاق والاختلاف بينهما وأهمية دراستهما. كما يشمل المقرر دراسة أئمة المذاهب الأربعة ومناهجهم في الاستنباط والمصادر المتفق عليها والمختلف فيها بجانب بيان تطور هذه العلوم.

     

  • RKF0443 Islam and Other Religion

This course provides the students with the understanding of Islam and other religions in Malaysia. It deals with an overview of religion and al-Din. It explains the characteristics of divine and non-Divine religions, the meaning of arkān of Islam, arkan of Iman and invalidation of ‘Aqidah. It covers the fundamental teaching of Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism. It also emphasizes the importance of religious tolerance in the contemporary world.   


  • RKF0453 Islamic Revealed Knowledge

The course explores different meanings of revelation and discusses the Revealed Knowledge and human acquired knowledge. It covers the importance and authenticity of the Revealed Sources i.e. al-Qur’an and al-Sunnah. The course provides basic understanding of al-Aqidah, ‘Ilm al-Kalam and the different schools of thought that emerged as a result of different interpretations. The course also deals with al-Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, sources of al-Fiqh and the different schools of thought and the contributions of Imam al- Shafi’e on the development and application of Usul al-Fiqh.
