ORGANISATION CHART



OVERVIEW

The Department of Legal Studies is one of the branches of the Arts Programmes, CFS IIUM. We offer foundation in law programme which equips the students with basic legal knowledge prior to the students’ enrollment into undergraduate legal studies (LL.B or LL.B(S) in the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, IIUM Gombak Campus. Staffed by remarkably qualified legal academicians.


OBJECTIVES

  • To instill and inculcate the Islamization of Knowledge in our foundation in law programme.
  • To prepare the students for further undergraduate studies at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, IIUM.

COURSES OFFERED

  • LSA 0114 - Introduction to Law

Course synopsis - The course is designed to provide the foundation of legal concepts to all students.  It covers the general meaning and function of law, classification, sources of law and structure of the legal system.

  • LSA 0124 - Introduction to Islamic Law

Course synopsis - The course is designed to provide an introductory knowledge of Islamic Legal System, which includes the discussion on the basic concepts of Islamic Law, sources of law, the legislative process and the contemporary development of Fiqh.

  • LSA 0134 - Introduction to Legal Skills

Course synopsis - The course is designed to provide elementary academic and practical skills for law students.  The skills include research, reading, analysing and writing.

  • LSA 0144 -  Law & Society

Course synopsis -The course is designed to provide students with basic understanding of the inter-relation between law, politic and society. It also emphasises the need for the students to be aware of the reality and challenges facing the society.
