Family Medicine

Community Health and Family Medicine is covered in the 4th Block of the first year for a total of 7 weeks, and in the 4th year of the medical curriculum. The basic concepts of Biostatistics and Epidemiology are taught in the first year through lectures, problem-based learning, practicals and assignments.
During the fourth year, students will be sent to two postings. These postings are MED 4105 and Family Medicine posting MED 4905. Students will be divided into two groups. Each group will be attached to the Health District Office and Polyclinic at Kuantan for five weeks each.
Here, they will perform their Public Health attachments where they will apply their knowledge of community Medicine acquired in their first year in conducting community surveys, community diagnosis and health intervention. In the Polyclinics, they will perform Family Medicine attachment.
Students will be attached to three primary care clinics in Kuantan to perform their clinical practice. At the end of the posting, they will have one week of revision followed by one week of examination.
