MED 1113 - Normal Structures & Function of the Human Cell, Tissue and Body Systems

This course covers human anatomy, histology, medical embryology.  It also includes cell structure and function, composition and distribution of body fluids, nerve and muscle physiology, physiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, endocrine and reproductive systems and medical biochemistry covering macromolecules, intermediary metabolism, biochemical basis of cellular processes and some aspects of molecular biology.

MED 1213 - Normal Response and Process to Diseased State

This course covers basic and general concept of deviation from normality leading to diseased states.  Inflammatory and repair processes principles of cardiovascular and circulatory disorders, infection, cell growth and differentiation and neoplasm are presented.  Generally, lecture topics cover all the important aspects of general pathology.  In addition, series of lectures on basic immunology and psychology (behavioural science) are also incorporated into this course.

MED 1313 - Body Reactions to Physical, Chemical and Biological Agents

Principles and applied aspects of medical microbiology, parasitology and medical entomology are covered in this course.  Basic pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics are also introduced here to form the basis of medical therapeutics in clinical years.

MED 1407 - Biostatistics and Epidemiology

Major topics that are covered in this course are principles of epidemiology and biostatistics.
