Expert Profile


Hanida Hani bt. Mohd Mokhtar received her scholarship under Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) to pursue her Diploma in Nursing in 1996. She had working experience in the cardiothoracic ward and care of post-heart transplant patients. In 2003, while working in an invasive cath lab, she received IJN sponsorship to attend the Interventional Cardiology Conference in France. She has been awarded Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT) from the Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah during her service in IJN. She also had international working experience in 2007 at the Cardiovascular Telemetry ward (adult & pediatric), King Faisal Hospital & Research Institute Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. To expand her career she joined International Medical University as a nursing clinical instructor for a year before switching to an Assistant Lecturer at IIUM in 2009. Besides that, she was actively involved in humanitarian missions such as an earthquake mission at Bam Iran with, MERCY Malaysia (2004) and a humanitarian mission to Phnom Penh (2012) and Siem Reap, Cambodia (2013) under IIUM Kuantan Campus. For administrative experience in IIUM, she has been involved in preparing questions for the national Nursing Board Licensure Exam during her tenure as an Exam Co-ordinator and was appointed as Head of the Critical Care Nursing Department in 2012. Academically, she obtained her Bachelor in Nursing (Hons) (UKM) in 2006, Master in Nursing Science (UM) in 2013 and PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2019 (under SLAB scholarship). Apart from that, she has a Post-Basic Certificate in Renal (KKM), Advance Diploma in Teaching Methodology (KPJUC) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Studies (IIUM). Her research interests are cardiovascular nursing, renal nursing and health promotion (smoking cessation). She is also a certified smoking cessation service provider (MAP).
