Brief introduction

The purpose of this programme is to produce quality graduates in secondary education in the field of Islamic Education to meet the needs of the Ministry of Education Malaysia. In addition, the purpose of this programme is to produce graduates with high potentials and will be able to serve as a role model to students and surrounding communities.
The programme is structured to serve the following objectives:

1.    Produce graduates in secondary education in the field of Islamic Education to meet the needs of the Ministry of Education Malaysian
2.    Improve the quality of secondary teacher professionalism in teaching and learning in the field of Islamic Education in school
3.    Produce professionals who could translate the theories of teaching and learning in the process and practice of education in secondary schools
4.    Enhance the culture of continuous research in related fields among secondary school teachers
5.    Produce graduates with high potential and serve as a role model to students and surrounding communities

Program Outcome

The Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) program is designed to achieve the following program learning outcomes:

1. Demonstrate familiarity with established knowledge in the field of ethics in Islam and awareness of current development therein.
2. Use relevant skills learnt in the ethics in Islam for professional and personal development.
3. Cooperate with others and apply knowledge in a socially responsible manner for the progress of the nation and the Ummah.
4. Demonstrate commitment to ethics, autonomy and professionalism in the workplace and everyday life.
5. Communicate with people from a diverse range of backgrounds with empathy, showing leadership qualities.
6. Analyze issues and demonstrate skillfulness in planning, executing and evaluating strategies and action plans.
7. Use the necessary learning skills in information management and apply effective strategies for lifelong self-improvement.
8. Apply basic managerial and entrepreneurial skills in relevant fields.
9. Integrate Islamic teachings in Ethics for the purpose of improving students’ attitude and behavior.

Career Opportunities

A Bachelor of Education degree in Islamic Education prepares you for work as teachers in government and private schools. With our degree, you may also join other industries such as Tourism, Media, Human Resource and Religious Department.  If you are keen to be self-employed, you could even offer professional development training to the public or corporations or become a consultant.

Program Structure

Your studies will commence in the first year with the neccessary foundations of education and knowledge in teaching profession.  You will be introduced to two areas, i.e. Education, its major theories and principles; and Islamic Education. In this year, you will be exposed to the organization of school, its curriculum, and the components or areas in Islamic Education. This foundation work will continue into the second year with the strengthening of the content of Islamic Education, while gradually introducing you to the teaching and learning process that takes place in the classroom. In the third year you will have the opportunity to experience hands on in researching, planning, preparing and teaching in a mock classroom. You will also learn to develop, conduct, interpret and report assessment of your students’ performance. In Practicum I (School Orientation Program), you will be placed in school to experience the management, organization, and culture of school, and classroom teaching. In the fourth year after completing the remaining courses you will once again be placed in school where you will do your teaching practicum supervised by experienced teachers, school administrators and university supervisors. Besides developing teaching skills, the program will also equip you with research knowledge and skills, preparing you for postgraduate studies or for a career as a researcher.
