Achievements and Awards in 2010-11

This year KOS won 7 gold, 9 Silver and 14- Bronze: total  30 Medals which is higher than last year 2010.

KOS  won 6 medals in Biomalaysia 2010 which was held in KLCC Conventional Centre from 1st-3rd November, 2010.  Following are the list of projects and achievers. Including these medals KOS so far achieved 37 medals in 2010.

WINNER - ASSOC. PROF. DR. TARIQUR RAHMAN

Title of the project. Selenium Addition to Green Papaya Extract Improves Epidermal Wound Healing

Including this award KOS has won 32 innovation award this year from IIUM, National and International Exhibition.

Br. Kamarul Rahim Bin Kamarudin from Department of Biotechnology is being invited by National Science Foundation through the 2010 Holothuroid Systematics Workshop (7-16 June 2010 in Guam, USA) organiser. His whole trip is sponsored by US National Science Foundation.

He will give a lecture in the said  workshop. Congratulations!

Currently Br. Kamarul is pursuing his PhD in Biological Science (Microbial Metabolomics) at University of Auckland.

KoS won one Bronze Medal in recent 21st  International, Innovation, Invention and Technology Exhibition, 2010 (ITEX, held at KLCC Convention Centre, 14TH-16TH MAY).

Research Management Centre, Gombak has chosen only one product from KoS and which was awarded by ITEX judges.

Kulliyyah of Science has won  7 GOLD medals, 9 SILVER medals and 13 BRONZE medals at the IRIIE 2010!

The 7 gold medals won by the projects led by  Prof. Dr. Kamaruzzaman Bin Yunus (1),  Assoc. Prof Dr. Ahmed Jalal Khan Chowdhury (1), Assoc. Prof. Dato Dr.  Syed Zahir Idid Syed Osman Idid (2), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Mohd. Daud (1), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nor Omar (1) and Asst. Prof.  Dr. Mohammad Tariqur Rahman (1).

Our postgraduate student NorDataikama Mat Amin, together with other researchers also won the best project which entitled  "Anti-Multidrug Resistant  Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Activity of Euphorbiaceae Leaves Extract".

Over 33 projects KoS have  submitted, and we won 29 medals.
