RESEARCH FACILITIES

INOCEM is going to have good infrastructure facilities for research. State-of-the art gadgets will be used for practical work in the laboratories, experiments in the sea, and trials in the hatchery and grow-out system.
For ocean surveys, there will be a sophisticated research boat with facilities for desalination, navigation, telecommunication, sampling of water and sea bed, and SCUBA diving. INOCEM also is going to have one small boat to support field observations in the sea.
For aquaculture research, INOCEM is now equipped with hatchery which has the capacity to hold large-sized broodstock, to breed them and rear the larvae to juvenile size, and to conduct trials on grow-out in tanks. The focus of research is on marine food fishes such as grouper, snapper and seabass. However, attention is also given to certain species of commercial importance such as Patin Buah, marine Tilapia and some invertebrate species.
