This is group of concerned staff and students led by the Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the International Islamic University Malaysia which is undertaking a project Called Save Our River Project with the objective of saving, beautifying and turning the river as the university’s eco-system lifeline which in return enriches our environment.

FEBRUARY
Launching of the Save Our River Project

  •  Launch of the Project on campus
  •  Announcement of Competitions : IIUM River Innovation, Song Writing, Khutbah Writing

MARCH
Activities with Sg Pusu/Sg Rumput communities

  •  Collecting rubbish from the river, planting trees/grass on river banks/exposed earth
  •  Picnic

APRIL
In conjunction with Earth Day)

  •  PYP - IIUM Save the River Competition & Innovations 2018
  •  Khutbah Writing Competition
  •  Khutbah slot on Save our Rivers
  •  IIUM Earth Day Carnival
  •  Riverside Performances - spoken words/poetry, live bands/buskering (theme must be on environment)
  •  Song Writing Competition
  •  Save Our River Run

MAY

  •  Gardens/River stops installations by kull/alumni/sponsors Tree planting/benches and picnic areas, etc

NOVEMBER / DECEMBER

  •  Educational trips, games and workshops for kids under 15 (school holiday programme to create awareness among young children)
