About Plant Sciences


The Department has two programmes namely Plant Science Programme and Applied Plant Science Programme aimed at generating and nurturing  competent and skilled graduates with knowledge in plant science with Islamic values to fulfil the needs of public and private sectors in teaching, research and management. The Courses  cover many exciting aspects of modern and conventional plant science, including plant taxonomy and anatomy, ethnobotany, plant diversity and breeding, plant chemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetic engineering, plant-pathogen and plant environment interactions, plant physiology and ecology, and several others. 

The department offers two types of degrees namely 

Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Plant Science) and Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Applied Plant Science) 

with concentration packages leading to various interesting fields.

To become a renowned centre of plant science study and research, for students locally and internationally.

Visions:

  • To provide comprehensive knowledge of plant sciences, both basic and applied.
  • To generate and nurture competent and skilled graduates with knowledge in plant science with Islamic values.
  • To fulfill the needs of public and private plant-based sectors in teaching, research, and business.
