1st Teacher’s Innovation Carnival

The Teachers’ Innovation Carnival (T-Novate) is a platform for Malaysian primary and secondary school teachers to showcase their innovations in teaching and learning that promote student engagement, motivation, and character-building. Entries will go through a judging process and outstanding innovations will be awarded with medals to recognise the work of the teachers. It is held in conjunction with the International Conference on Education towards Global Peace jointly organised by the Consortium of Asia Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU) and the Kulliyyah of Education (KOED) IIUM.

CATEGORIES

T-Novate is divided into the following categories:

  1. Teaching Aid Innovation
    1. Primary school
    2. Secondary school

B. Learning Activities Innovation

    1. Primary school
    2. Secondary school

PRIZE

GOLD:  Cash prize + medal + certificate

SILVER: Cash prize + medal + certificate

BRONZE: Cash prize + medal + certificate

PARTICIPATION

  1. All teachers in Malaysian public and private primary and secondary schools are invited to participate.
  2. All entries must be submitted by NOVEMBER 15th 2016. Participants must fill out an online form that can be found on http://tinyurl.com/t-novateform
  3. Only ONE participation per teacher is allowed.
  4. Each participant must be registered for the International Conference on Education towards Global Peace with a fee of RM150 per pax, paid in full before November 15th 2016.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

  1. Entries must be submitted via online form at http://tinyurl.com/t-novateform
  2. On the Carnival day, each participant must present to the juries the following:
    1. A poster explaining the teaching aid or learning activity innovation, including but not limited to:
      • Description of the innovation
      • Proof of innovation being used/carried out in the kindergarten/school
      • Process of innovation development (how the teaching aid was made/how the activities were designed and executed)
      • Awards/recognition/publication, if any
      • Poster size is A1 (594 x  841 mm / 23.4  x  33.1 inch) (width x height)
    2. Sample of the teaching aid (for Teaching Aid Innovation category)
    3. Pictures or any other products (for Learning Activities Innovation)
    4. You may provide additional materials such as brochures, photographs, certificates of appreciation, or other materials to support innovation
  3. Booth exhibition will be provided by the organizers (1 table, 1 chair)
  4. No laptop/tablet will be provided

 

JUDGING

  1. Evaluation will be made by experienced judges as selected by the organizers.
  2. Participants are to exhibit and demonstrate their innovations in front of a panel of judges during the judging session.
  3. The time allocation for the presentation and question and answer is 10 minutes.
  4. Scoring criteria are based on:
    originality,
    creativity,
    added value to the process of teaching and learning (P & P),
    practicality,
    evidences (e.g., newspaper article, journal etc.),
    presentation and content of the poster.
  5. The jury’s decision is final. Any appeals will not be entertained.
