Mentoring the Orphans

Mentoring the Orphans

At CENSERVE, students are given the opportunity to explore the community issues and identify where they can serve. One of the issues is the education development of children at the orphanages. By attaching the children with their mentors among IIUM students, both children and students gain mutual benefits. The orphans develop confidence, self-esteem and the IIUM students learn communication, facilitating, management skills and develop the sense of responsibility to community in-need.

The children are guided on developing positive values, academic and religious knowledge through activities organized by their mentors. These activities are planned under a club called Caring Club which was established in 1997.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The project was created to achieve the following objectives:

i.               To actualize the concept of humanising education

ii.              To develop the sense of caring for the less fortunate among the mentors

iii.            To help the orphans to build positive attitude and develop strong personality

iv.             To promote the spirit of a good citizen.

The concept, activities and expected outcomes of the project are similar to KENDIL Project
