Expert Profile

Dr Abdul Alif Abd Hamid is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuantan Campus, where he currently serves as the Deputy Dean (Student Development and Community Engagement).

In this executive leadership capacity, he directs strategic initiatives focused on student welfare, holistic professional growth, and the integration of Islamic values within nursing practice. He dedicates his administrative work to empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals through community health advocacy and robust support systems. Dr Alif also strongly believes in building strategic networking with the workforce, particularly within the private healthcare sector, to enhance collaboration and create greater opportunities for students, including scholarships, professional exposure, and career development pathways.

As a researcher, Dr Alif specialises in resuscitation science and emergency preparedness, with a specific focus on empowering bystanders regarding CPR and sudden cardiac arrest responses. His work bridges the gap between clinical theory and public health through evidence-based training and simulation-based learning.  Furthermore, he maintains a research portfolio in forensic nursing and toxicology, exploring the intersections of trauma care, medico-legal documentation, and correctional health. His interdisciplinary approach extends to the laboratory, where he employs zebrafish (Danio rerio) models to advance toxicological and biomedical investigations.

A committed advocate for the nursing profession, he holds key leadership roles in professional organisations, serving as an Executive Committee (EXCO) member of the Malaysian Nurses Association (MNA)—IIUM Branch and maintaining active membership in the National Heart Association of Malaysia (NHAM). Through his blend of academic leadership and scientific inquiry, Dr Alif remains at the forefront of advancing nursing excellence and community resilience in Malaysia.
