Prof. Dr. Ahmad Aidil Arafat bin Dzulkarnain is a Professor at the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He obtained his Bachelor of Audiology with Honours from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2003 and received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Audiology from The University of Queensland, Australia in 2008. He is currently serving as the Dean of KAHS, IIUM. Previously, he was the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research at KAHS (2017–2021) and Head of the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (2012–2013). He has also held international appointments as Visiting Academic at The University of Queensland and Visiting Scientist at the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL), Australia (2013–2014). As a researcher, Prof. Dr. Aidil has made substantive contributions in auditory neurophysiology, particularly in auditory evoked responses (AER). His current research focuses on evaluating sound-cognitive and emotional therapy interventions using AER tests as outcome measures among patients with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This work is fully funded by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia under the Trans-disciplinary Research Grant Scheme (TRGS). To date, he has secured more than RM 3 million in research funding from government, industry, and international agencies. He has authored and presented over 200 papers in international and local journals and conferences. In addition, he has advanced audiology education by developing simulated learning approaches and publishing several high-quality papers in prestigious journals, while also serving as a regular peer reviewer. Prof. Dr. Aidil’s expertise in auditory neurophysiology has earned him repeated invitations as a keynote speaker and professional trainer by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, private agencies, and audiology professional societies both locally and abroad. His lectures on diverse audiology topics are widely accessible through academic and educational platforms worldwide. In recognition of his contributions, he was named IIUM’s Most Promising Academic (Health Sciences) in 2020. More recently, he received the Service Excellence in Academic Award from the Malaysian National Society of Audiologists (MANSA) in 2025, underscoring his impact on the field of audiology in Malaysia and beyond.
