Expert Profile
Hadi Purwanto graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Metallurgy Programme), Institute Technology Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. He worked as a junior research assistant at the Research Centre for Mineral for three years before continuing his studies. He obtained his Master in Engineering and Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Metallurgy from Tohoku University (Japan), specializing in iron and steel making.
He spent one year at the Osaka Prefecture University as a Research Fellow in the Chemical Engineering Department before his appointment as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Hokkaido University Japan focusing on waste heat recovery and hydrogen energy.
He also gained experience on the processing of oil sludge from oil industry. After completing his research in Japan, he was appointed as Head of Surabaya office at Marubeni Itochu Steel Indonesia before joining International Islamic University Malaysia in 2008. His research interests are ironmaking process, biomass energy processing and waste materials processing as well as waste heat recovery from high temperature process industry.
