Expert Profile
Gapur Oziev, born in 1974 is from the Republic of Ingushetia (Russian Federation). Upon mastering English and Arabic he joined International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1998 and graduated in 2002 majoring in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh and Usul Fiqh) and minoring in political science. He remained at the university to complete his Master and Phd in 2004 and 2008 respectively. Currently he is an associate professor at the department of economics of the faculty of economics and management science of the university teaching various undergraduate and master courses in the area of Islamic banking and finance and Islamic economics. He was twice awarded with “best teacher award†and has published books and a number of articles in Scopus and ISI Thompson journals some of which can be accessed at the following link: http://www.iium.edu.my/staff-details?id=5936He also gives lectures on a weekly "Angusht" radio program: "Islamic economics, business and finance" in Russian language. He is also actively involved in numerous research projects utilizing internal grants from the Research Management Center of the university as well as an external grant from the Ministry of Higher Education. Dr.Gapur has been more than once invited as consultant to various projects organized by Islamic Development Bank of Saudi Araia and Unirazak-IBFIM consortium of Malaysia in implementing IBF in Russian Federation as a pilot project. Since 2015 he has been appointed as a member of Shariah board of experts at National Rating Agency of Russia. Since 2018 he also has been as an expert/consultant for Shariah Review Bureau of Bahrain.
