Expert Profile


Dr. Che Azunie Che Abdullah is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Nursing from Universiti Sains Malaysia, a Master of Nursing Science (Adult Nursing) from Chiang Mai University, Thailand, and a Ph.D. in Nursing from IIUM. She had served as the Head of the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing from July 2023 to June 2025. Her primary research interests lie in head and neck cancer nursing, particularly self-management in nasopharyngeal cancer care, and in qualitative research methodologies, including case study design and framework analysis. Her research work has been published in various indexed journals and can be accessed via the IIUM Repository (http://irep.iium.edu.my). Dr. Che Azunie was recognised as a Promising Academic Leader by the Kulliyyah in 2023. She also received the Certificate of Outstanding Performance (Best Poster Presenter) at the 2nd International Nursing Conference in 2016. She contributes actively to the academic community as a reviewer for multiple local and international journals. She is a member of several national and international professional bodies, including the Society of Head and Neck Nurses, Malaysian Oncological Society, Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia, Malaysian Nurses Association, and Koperasi Kejururawatan Malaysia Berhad. In addition to her research contributions, Dr. Che Azunie is actively involved in supervising Master's and PhD students. She is also a dedicated educator, teaching core courses in the Bachelor of Nursing programme, such as Fundamental of Medical-Surgical and Special Senses Nursing, and various other theory and practice courses. With a strong commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Che Azunie continues to expand her teaching, supervision, and research activities in line with her passion for advancing nursing education and practice.
