Expert Profile
Noor Ezailina Bt Badarudin obtained her BSc (Hon) and MSc (Health Science), both in Optometry, from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Upon completion of her MSc, she has been appointed as a lecturer and optometry consultant at the International University College Of Technology Twintech (IUCTT), a part-time lecturer at the Optometry Program, Faculty of Health Science MARA University of Technology Malaysia as well as an external clinical supervisor for the optometry clinic at the Optometry Department, Faculty of Allied Health Science, UKM.
Prior to lecturing, she served at CIMA optical Centre / Top Vision Optical Centre as an optometry consultant which is a panel optometry centre for the Malaysian Ministry of Defence.
In the research field, her PhD thesis project was on the effect of sex hormones on the ocular surface sensitivity, dry eye symptoms and signs in postmenopausal women. During her PhD candidature, she was given the task of supervising Honours and Master students to conduct research projects on dry eye at the School Of Optometry and Vision Science UNSW (2013-2014). She has received a Student Travel Award from the International Society for Contact Lens Research (ISCLR) during the 17th Scientific Meeting of the Society in Kyoto, Japan (2013).
She has been appointed as the Head of Department of the Optometry and Visual Science IIUM since September 2015 till December 2017. She is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences and currently teaching courses related to contact lens and public health at her department. Her first Masters student (international) has graduated within 4 semesters (graduate on time) with a Masters in Health Science from IIUM in 2016 and her second Master student who conducted a study on diabetics and dry eye graduated in 2018. She has co-authored ISI Q1 journals which include Optometry and Vision Science, Clinical Experimental Optometry and Contact Lens and Anterior Eye. She has been invited to be on board of studies for the Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) program at the school of optometry UCSI Kuala Lumpur. She is also a member of the Conjoint Contact Lens Committee, apart from chairing a committee of “Jawatankuasa Penilaian Bagi Kelayakan Yang Tiada Dalam Jadual (JK PQA)†of the Malaysian Optical Council of Ministry of Health (2016-2017). She has also been appointed by IIUM KCA as an internal auditor for ISO 9001:2015 (2018 &2019).
