Expert Profile
Dr. Mahyuddin Daud obtained his PhD on Cyber Law (Internet Content Regulation) from IIUM, LL.M from UiTM and LL.B from IIUM. Started his academic career in 2010, he actively writes for academic journals and teaches contracts, torts and information technology laws at the Department of Civil Law, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. For the past 9 years in service, he has consistently maintained a minimum score of 90% rating for Student Feedback Surveys, which potrays high rate of satisfaction from students taught. He holds professional memberships for the Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM), The Malaysian Consumer and Family Economics Association (MACFEA) and the The Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet). |
Dr. Mahyuddin has recently in 2019 published a research-based textbook on Internet Content Regulation with the renowned IIUM Press. He also authored academic articles, one of which concerns the dissemination of false content online, which had engagement of more than 1000 readers on Research Gate. His latest academic research was featured in UKM’s Journal of Communication (SCOPUS-indexed) and IIUM Law Journal which was ISI-indexed. |
He was invited by the Parliament of Malaysia to spearhead the Agenda Reformasi Dewan Negara joint research project as expert researcher in 2019. The project was chaired by IIUM Alumni, YB Senator Yusmadi Yusoff where a policy paper was tabled to the government as project output. This has increased the visibility of IIUM’s expertise in the eyes of parliamentarians and senior government officals. He is involved in government-sponsored research projects, such as Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM), Attorney General’s Chamber, Fundamental Research Grant Scheme, and university grant such as IIUM Research Acculturation Grant Scheme. He is a co-editor for the IIUM Law Journal since 2018 until present. |
Dr. Mahyuddin has presented academic papers in local and international conferences around the region. Dr. Mahyuddin has also delivered motivation talks on academic excellence and student development. He is a former Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Alumni) at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. He currently holds the position of Director for Sports Development Centre and chairman of the IIUM Working Committee for the Establishment of Students’ Union. |
