Expert Profile


Dr. Thandar Soe @ Sumaiyah Jamaludin is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She previously held the positions of Head of the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing and Clinical Coordinator, and serves as an Educator 4.0 at IIUM. She is currently appointed as the Academic Quality Assurance Liaison for the Kulliyyah. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing at the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). 
She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Science from the University of Nursing, Yangon, Myanmar, and her Master of Nursing Science from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition, she holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Education) from the Open University Malaysia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Studies from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She has also served the university as an Internal Auditor. 
Prior to joining IIUM, Dr. Thandar Soe @ Sumaiyah Jamaludin worked as an Emergency Registered Nurse at Asia Royal Cardiac & Medical Care Centre, Yangon, Myanmar. She later continued her clinical career as a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse at the National Heart Institute of Malaysia. With expertise in cardiothoracic nursing care, nursing education, and nursing research, her research primarily focuses on mixed-methods approaches to improving patient outcomes and strengthening nursing practices. 
Her research interests also include cardiovascular disease care, self-care, and community health practice. She has made significant contributions to nursing scholarship through numerous publications and international research collaborations. She is actively involved in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research in the areas of nursing education, clinical practice, and community health awareness. She also serves as a reviewer for several national and international conferences and academic journals, contributing to the quality and integrity of scientific research. Dr. Thandar Soe @ Sumaiyah Jamaludin has been an active member of the COMMEET (Come and Meet) NGO, based in the Netherlands, since 2018. Through this collaboration, she has contributed to the development of international toolkits, including Promoting the Well-Being of Migrants and Displaced Persons, as well as initiatives focusing on women's and children's empowerment.
