Expert Profile
Dr. Alia Farhana is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering department of the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Her specialization is in the area of Dynamic Systems and Control, with a focus on Adaptive and Nonlinear Control Systems. Her research interests include unmanned areal vehicles (UAV), vehicle guidance and control, and energy management systems.
She obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2010, and subsequently a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering with emphasis on Dynamics and Control from the University of Southern California in 2012 . She then pursued a PhD with a focused research on adaptive control applied to multirotor UAVs, and was then awarded a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2017. She joined the Mechanical (Aerospace) Engineering department of IIUM in late 2017, and lectures undergraduate courses including Flight Dynamics and Control.
