Expert Profile


Dr. Nur Hidayah Abd Rahman is an academician and a researcher with the knowledge and experience in tourism planning and development. Hidayah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism (DOT) at Kulliyyah of Languages and Management (KLM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Pagoh Edu Hub, Muar, Johor. She has received PhD and Master of Science (Tourism Planning) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor and Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi. Currently, she is committed as a leader of the tourism research team for river-based tourism planning and development in Muar, Johor due to her perseverance in the history and culture of local community in Muar.  She is the project leader of IIUM Flagship Project with titled, "The Muara: A Living River Lab in Muar". She possesses comprehensive knowledge, especially in tourism geography. Her research interest includes tourism sense-making, tourist studies, visual studies, creative tourism, conservation of cultural heritage and sustainable tourism development.
