Expert Profile


  Dr Ahmad Hafizuddin started his housemanship training at Hospital Ampang in 2014 after completing undergraduate studies in Medicine (MBBS) at International Islamic University Malaysia. After completing his housemanship in 2016, he was assigned to work as a Medical Officer at Hospital Raub for one year. In 2017, he joined the IIUM Medical Center (subsequently referred to as Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Center @ IIUM) as a Medical Officer in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology for one year before enrolling in the Master of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery program (MMed. ORL-HNS) at the Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia, as part of the inaugural cohort of the program. He successfully finished the four-year program and received the MMed. ORL-HNS in August 2023. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM, as an Assistant Professor, continuing his passion for clinical teaching and research.



His subspecialties of interest are Rhinology, Allergy, and Smell. He has attended training in these niches in Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, and Kuala Lumpur under the supervision of several world-recognized experts in the field. He has been a member of the World Allergy Organization (WOS), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), and the Asia Pacific Association of Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology (APAAACE) since 2024. He is the founder and head of the ORL Rhinology, Allergy and Smell unit at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Center @ IIUM, where the unit has become the referral centre for hospitals in East Coast Malaysia for Immunotherapy and Biological treatment.


Dr Ahmad Hafizuddin’s research interests are nasal allergy, immunology, and smell. He is actively involved in research in these subspecialty areas and has secured various endowments and grants. He has published research papers in Scopus and the Web of Science (WOS) index journal. He has been invited as a speaker at numerous medical conferences at the regional and national levels. He also organises meetings in his field of interest. He was the Director of the series of Kuantan Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Anterior Skull Base Workshops and the Co-Director of the Kuantan Temporal Bone Dissection Workshop, which participants from regional countries attended.
