Expert Profile
Sharifah Zubaidah Syed Abdul Kader, SJD is a Professor at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, IIUM. She graduated with LLB (Honors) (IIUM), Master of Comparative Laws (MCL)(IIUM) and SJD (Bond University). Her areas of specialization are land law, property law and waqf governance. Her publications include a book on environmental management, two (2) books on land law, one (1) on waqf governance and one (1) on equity and equitable remedies. She has also published 19 chapters in books and 25 articles in local and international journals. Prof. Sharifah is a researcher for the Erasmus Climate Change Law and Policy Centre at IIUM. She additionally serves as Associate Editor of INSAF Journal of the Malaysian Bar, is a member of the Wakaf Committee at Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) and a member of the IIUM Internal Audit Committee. She is also legal consultant at IIUM Consultancies Sdn Bhd having been involved in several consultancy projects for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government relating to writing policy papers and drafting of amendments to the law on housing development, writing policy papers and drafting new Acts of Parliament relating to residential tenancies and waqf housing as well as writing technical reports for the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development for studies relating to the institutional and legal framework for regional development authorities such as DARA, LKWJ and KETENGAH. Prof. Sharifah is also involved in the Ministry of Higher Education research projects to reform legal education. She won the Murabbi (Best Teacher) Award in 2019 and a Best Paper Award in the 9th Global Waqf Conference in 2021.
