Expert Profile
Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Lokman Md Isa achieved his Doctorate in Philosophy from The University of Sheffield, specialising in Human Germ Cell Development & Spermatogenesis Form Stem Cells. Prior to this, he pursued his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), majoring in Biomedical Science and Health Science respectively. With a focus on molecular and cellular technology and reproductive stem cells, his academic journey at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has been marked by diverse research endeavors spanning human, animal, and plant biology. Presently, Dr. Muhammad Lokman's research endeavors are centered around planetary health, a collaborative effort involving academia, government, private sector, community, and environmental stakeholders. Notably, his groundbreaking achievement lies in establishing the Frozen Zoo, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, and fostering regional networks for the same purpose. The Frozen Zoo at IIUM serves as a repository for cell lines and biological samples from endangered species, offering innovative solutions to combat wildlife extinction driven by climate change. His expertise extends to serving as a member of the expert working group on endangered wildlife species (EWG EWS), further underscoring his commitment to conservation efforts.
