Datuk Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi Wan Husain is an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, admitted to the Bar on 23 September 1996. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Honours) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and is also qualified to practise as a Peguam Syarie in the State of Terengganu and the Federal Territory. In October 2007, he voluntarily ceased legal practice to pursue full-time executive leadership in the corporate sector, where he was actively involved in the infrastructure construction and oil and gas industries, serving as Group Executive Chairman of his company. In recognition of his leadership and national standing, he was listed in The Book of Malaysia Leaders: Political, Government & Corporate (2012). Datuk Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi has rendered distinguished service to royal institutions and public bodies, including as Secretary to the Terengganu Royal Council, Legal Adviser to the Majlis YTM Dato’-Dato’ Undang and YTM Tunku Besar Tampin, Negeri Sembilan, Chairman of the Tuanku Nur Zahirah Foundation, and Member of the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council. He is also actively engaged in civil society and cultural organisations, notably as Waris Amanah Mahaguru of Silat Seni Gayong, a leader within the MI’RAJ Coalition, and a patron of Persatuan Anak-anak Terengganu. After completing his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil), he pursued doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2015. He completed his PhD with distinction in 2017—one year ahead of schedule—with a seminal thesis entitled “The Concept of the Sovereignty of the Malay Rulers in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia According to Legal History.” His scholarly contributions have since received wide national recognition. From 2018 onwards, he has won ten (10) National Book Awards in constitutional law and related fields, culminating in the prestigious national honour of Tokoh Buku Negara 2024/2025, in recognition of his foundational role in developing Jurisprudens Watan and Fiqh al-Watan. Datuk Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi has been conferred several high national and state honours, including the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN), Dato’ Paduka Negeri Sembilan (DPNS), Dato’ Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP), and Setia Mahkota Terengganu (SMT). He currently serves as an Associate Professor at ISTAC, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and is widely recognised as the founder of Watanic Jurisprudence, a de-westernised jurisprudential framework grounded in constitutional history, indigenous sovereignty, and tawhidic epistemology.

After completing his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil), he
pursued his doctorate at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, in
2015. He excellently completed his studies in 2017, a year ahead of his
graduation period, with a distinguished PhD thesis entitled "The Concept of Sovereignty of the
Malay Rulers in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia according to the legal
history". He won eight (8) National Book Awards from 2018 until 2024 in
the constitutional law and other categories.  On 27 May, 2023, his book titled "Kedaulatan Malaysia Governan Utama Negara" was launched by HRH the Sultan of Perak. Wan
Ahmad Fauzi was bestowed with the Federal Order of Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN),
State Order of Dato' Paduka Negeri Sembilan (DPNS) and State Order of Setia
Mahkota Terengganu (SMT).  He is
currently an Associate Professor in ISTAC-IIUM. He also sits in various reputable bodies such as the National Syariah Judicial Committee and Perbadanan Adat Melayu dan Warisan Selangor as a member. He is well-known as the founder of watanic
jurisprudence.
