Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Fuad Bin Miskon is an Associate Professor at the Kulliyyah of Science, IIUM, and a senior researcher at the Institute of Oceanography and Maritime Studies (INOCEM). His expertise lies in aquatic pollution, with a focus on microplastics, heavy metals, and rare earth elements in both freshwater and marine ecosystems. He also specializes in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), marine spatial planning, and ESG-aligned environmental consultancy.
Over the past decade, Dr. Fuad has led or contributed to over RM2.6 million in research and consultancy projects, including collaborations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Department of Environment, SASMEC, and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). He was appointed as a Project Member for IAEA’s INT7021 Global Marine Plastic Pollution Monitoring, and participated in the OceanX Malaysia Mission, demonstrating his international standing in ocean science diplomacy.
His work integrates scientific research with national policy and community action, particularly through projects like Marine Plastic School, Let’s Sea Camp, and coastal restoration programs. He actively mentors postgraduate students in pollution modelling, marine risk analysis, and conservation.
Dr. Fuad’s contributions reflect the values of Tawhidic epistemology and Maqasid al-Shariah, merging environmental science with ethical responsibility, public health, and sustainability. He continues to serve as a Subject Specialist in Aquatic Pollution for the Department of Environment (DOE) and supports IIUM’s leadership in marine science and national development goals.
