Expert Profile
Dr Mohd Puzhi bi Usop obtained his Bachelor’s degree and Diploma of Education at IIUM. Then he was sent to Sabah in 1997 to work as a religious teacher under the Ministry of Education for two years. In 1999, he started his career as a lecturer at Quranic Language Dept, CELPAD, IIUM. He completed his Master’s degree in the field of Teaching Arabic as a Second Language at University of Malaya in 2003. Then, his Ph.D at the same university in 2007. He has travelled to many Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey for academic and social purposes.
He is very active in producing Arabic text books, Translation of the Quran and dictionaries. Among his publications are Bahasa Arab Untuk Ibadah, Miftah Al-Lughat Al-Arabiyyah, Al-Arabiyyah Lughatuna, Kamus al-Farid, Al-Qhufran & Al-Fauzan (Translation of The Holy Quran) etc.
He has vast experiences in administrative work as a coordinator and head of department. He has been an auditor at Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) since 2010. He was appointed as the coordinator for Kursus Umum Bahasa Arabâ (KUBA) at the Institute for Language Advancement (IfLA) and ACADEMY from 2014-2018. Since january 2019, he holds the position as Head of Training & Iqra' Unit at Shas Mosque, CENTRIS, IIUM. He is a member of International Islamic Scholars Association since 2014 based in Qatar.
