Expert Profile
Dr. Zabeda Abdul Hamid is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Administration, Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Dr. Zabeda earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from IIUM and a Master's and Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen) and University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), respectively. With over 25 years of experience as an academician, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducts research, publishes journal articles and book chapters, presents at conferences, and supervises Master's and Doctoral candidates in the areas of Knowledge Management, Organisational Behaviour, Management, Talent Development, and Human Resource Management. She has also been invited as a guest speaker at international conferences, including a workshop organised by the United Nations in Austria.
Besides her academic duties, Dr. Zabeda has held various administrative posts, including the Deputy Director of the IIUM Graduate School of Management, Head of the Masters in Business Administration programme, and Head of the Masters of Management programme under the Graduate School, Deputy Director of Alumni Unit, Head of Internationalisation and Global Networks of her faculty, and is currently holding the post of the Postgraduate Coordinator of the department.
Dr. Zabeda teaches in executive programmes and provides training to corporate participants in the public and private sectors, both locally and internationally, in her areas of specialisation. She has also worked on consultancy projects with grants from the industry and from clients locally and abroad.
In line with her academic work, Dr. Zabeda is an Accreditation Assessor for the Alliance for Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow: a 21st century organisation (ABEST21) which is an international accreditation body based in Japan that provides accreditation to business schools in Asia. She is also appointed as the Project Coordinator (Malaysia) of the Asia Business Leader project under the Kyoto Business Research Centre, Kyoto University, Japan, and is an external assessor for the Certificate and Diploma in Business Administration programmes for the International Islamic College.
In addition to her academic career, Dr. Zabeda is an active member of Mensa International, having presented talks at international events in the United States, France, Indonesia, and in Malaysia. She has participated in many international gatherings and have represented Malaysia under the Leadership Exchange Ambassador Project (LEAP) under Mensa International. She was an international committee member for the Mensa International Election and has been one of the judges for the Mensa Foundation Scholarship programme for many years, assessing application essays to award the scholarships. Currently, Dr. Zabeda is the National Ombudsperson for Mensa Malaysia.
