Expert Profile

Dr. Nur Farisya Shamsudin is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuantan, Malaysia. Her research focuses on medicinal chemistry and anticancer drug discovery, with particular emphasis on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of chromone-based compounds targeting autophagy and other cancer-related signalling pathways.

Her research integrates synthetic organic chemistry, computational drug design, and cancer pharmacology to develop novel small molecules with potential anticancer and anti-inflammatory activities. She has extensive experience in medicinal chemistry, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, in vitro anticancer screening, and mechanistic studies involving apoptosis, reactive oxygen species generation, and autophagy modulation.

In addition to experimental drug discovery, Dr. Farisya conducts systematic reviews and evidence synthesis on natural products and small molecules targeting autophagy in cancer. Her research interests include medicinal chemistry, autophagy, kinase-targeted therapy, computational chemistry, natural product-inspired drug discovery, and translational cancer research.

Dr. Farisya has published in peer-reviewed international journals and presented her work at national and international scientific conferences. She is committed to advancing innovative therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment through interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
