Expert Profile
Asst. Prof. Dr. Musliana Binti Mustaffa obtained her Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2006. She began her career and served as a dental officer in the oral healthcare facilities in the Ministry of Health Malaysia for approximately four years before joining the Kulliyyah of Dentistry IIUM in 2010. She was the trainee in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, pursued her study in the Endodontics discipline in 2013 and obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) from the School of Clinical Dentistry the University of Sheffield, UK in 2016. Since her return to Kulliyyah of Dentistry, she has actively engaged in academics, research and community services. She has published various articles related to her discipline as a main author or co-author, presented a number of papers in the national and international conferences, and won various awards through poster or oral presentations. She also secured a Research Initiative Grant Scheme in 2017 amounting RM20,000 and a Fundamental Research Grant Scheme amounting RM96,000 in 2019 as a principal investigator. She had supervised the undergraduate students through their Final Year Research projects and a master student by research who already graduated in 2023. She was a member in Malaysian Endodontic Society (2021), Malaysian Biomaterials Society (2020-2022), and Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine Society of Malaysia (2021). Her current research interest is in bioceramics, interdisciplinary patient management and medical education. She held a position of Head of Endodontic Unit (2017-2019), course coordinator of Conservative Dentistry Year 3 (2017-2021), Head of Restorative Dentistry Department (2023). Currently, she is a Programme Director of Doctor in Endodontology programme, a three years coursework programme which is in the development stage and the programme is expected to commence in 2027.
