Research area: cornea and ocular surface, corneal morphology, corneal wound healing, artificial tears, tears film, tears rheology, ocular surface lesion, irregular cornea and anterior eye diagnostics/imaging.
Mohd Radzi Hilmi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Optometry and Visual Science, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Before becoming an academic staff in 2017, he was a Ph.D Researcher in Department of Ophthalmology, Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM. He was awarded M.Optom (Optometry) from UNSW Sydney, Australia and B.Optom (Hons.) (Optometry) in IIUM. His research focus area in cornea and ocular surface, corneal morphology, corneal wound healing, artificial tears, tears film, tears rheology, ocular surface lesion, irregular cornea and anterior eye diagnostics/imaging. He currently pursuing his postdoctoral in cornea and ocular surface research in Aston University, United Kingdom under supervision Prof. Dr. James Wolffsohn. He has published more than 50 full peer-reviewed papers in reputable journals and presented technical papers in many international conferences with H-Index of 8. He also part of editorial board member of IVORC academic foundation, United States of America. He also a regular reviewer of several international top-tier journal related to Optometry and Ophthalmology such as Current Eye Research (Curr Eye Res), Contact Lens and Anterior Eye (CLAE), and Optometry and Vision Science (Optom Vis Sci). Not to mentioned, he also regularly an invited reviewer for several prominent local journals such as Medical Journal of Medical and Health Sciences (MJMHS), Malaysian Medical Journal of Malaysia (Med J Malaysia) and Sains Malaysiana (Sains Malays). He is a full registered Optometrist under Malaysian Optical Council (MOC), lifetime member of the Association of Malaysian Optometrist (AMO). Internationally, he holds Professional Member at the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA), United Kingdom and also member of International Myopia Institute (IMI) and Tear Film & Ocular Surface (TFOS) Society. He was awarded Best Young Scientist in Optometry from Venus Research Foundation, India in 2019. He has been awarded international, national, and industrial grants worth more than RM800,000. He is also a Fellow in Anterior eye of the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA), United Kingdom. He has several industrial projects with industries such as Carl Zeiss instruments, Oculus, Tomey, Alcon, Abbvie, Santen, TRB Chemedica and many more.
