Expert Profile
Azzmer Azzar bin Abdul Hamid obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from IIUM and subsequently reported duty as a lecturer at the Department of Biotechnology within the Kuliyyah of Science at the IIUM Kuantan Campus. His professional journey commenced with a position as a tutor at Open University Malaysia in Johor Bahru, where he instructed Biology courses encompassing Eukaryotic Diversity, Basic Genetics, Current Issues in Science, and Plant Physiology. Within the realm of Research and Development (R&D), he amassed valuable experiences by serving as a research assistant and later as a research officer at the Faculty of Bioscience and Medical Engineering at UTM in Johor. At present, Dr. Azzmer holds the title of Associate Professor at the Department of Biotechnology in the Kulliyyah of Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Kuantan Campus. His primary research focus revolves around molecular modeling of environmental and disease proteins.
Dr. Azzmer secured research funding, acting as the principal researcher for an internal grant known as RMCSDG and as the Principal Investigator for a fundamental research scheme grant (FRGS). His contributions to the field are evident through the publication of articles in highly reputable journals, covering topics such as protein modeling, rational design, molecular biology, and enzyme kinetics. Beyond his research endeavors, he has dedicated his expertise to the Ministry of Education, serving as an examiner for the Matriculation program and as a reviewer for scientific journals such as the Journal of Biomolecular Structure & Dynamics. On a national level, he has been appointed as an executive committee member for the Malaysian Society of Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (MasBIC).
