Expert Profile
Mohamad Fauzan Noordin received his Ph.D from the University of Wales, UK in 1997, MBA from Central Missouri State University, USA in 1991, and BSc. (Computer Science) from University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA in 1989. He is a Professor in Knowledge Technology at the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology. His book ICT and Islam has been adopted as the textbook at several universities.
Within just over a decade, his career has spanned far and wide. Currently, he is the Head of ICT and Islam Research Cluster. He was the Dean, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (2012-2013), a visiting scholar at the University of Bahrain (2004-2005) and Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2010-2011). Besides these achievements, he has been appointed as a member of the research panel for the Research Grants Scheme at the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation since 2005, a panel member for National Dakwah Policy of Malaysia (JAKIM), and a Senior Fellow at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).
Another testimony of his capability is his appointment as the first Dean of ICT Faculty at the Al-Madinah International University Malaysia (2007-2008), Certified Lead Auditor Training ISO 9001:2008, Quality Management System (2012), Lead IT Auditor at Obeikan Investment Group, Riyadh, KSA (April 2013). He was the Principal Consultant for UMP ICT Strategic Planning (2011-2013), and a member of Board of Advisor for K-Perak, State of Perak (2013).
Previously, he was the Dean for the Office of Corporate Strategy and Quality Assurance (2011-2012), Director of the Centre for Collaborative Technology (2009-2010), IIUM Director for Information Technology Division (2001-2004), Director, Centre for IT Advancement (2004), and Director, Centre for Excellence in Continuing Education E-Learning (C-ExCEL) (1999).
He was the Co-Chairman for MyAis (Malaysian Association Information System) from 2009 to 2010, and currently, the Deputy President of MyAis. He specializes in Knowledge Technology, Management Information System (MIS), ICT and Islam, Social Networking, Cloud Computing, E-Banking, Knowledge Management and Wisdom in ICT. In terms of publishing, he has contributed articles in various local and international journals.
His research on Multilingual Search Engine and Retrieval System won the Best Research Award for university level in 2009 and two Silver Awards at the International Invention and Technology Exhibition in 2009. He has often been invited by TV and radio stations, and newspaper and interviewed on ICT issuess as an expert in the field.
He has also been invited as a guest speaker presenting talks on Grid Computing, Cloud Computing and Information Technology at International Conferences in Canada and Taiwan. He was invited as a speaker in System Quality Software Conference at Düsseldorf, Germany in May 2006; a speaker by JAIST for MALAYSIA-JAPAN on Advanced Technology in Information and Knowledge Sciences, Kanazawa, Japan in 2013; and a headline speaker for Cloud Asia Expo, Singapore in 2013 and 2014. He was invited as a keynote speaker at NOORIC2013 at Taiba Unversity, Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2013; IMAN Conference 2014 in Amman, Jordan; and CITSM Conference in 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Recently, he was invited as a resource person in Islamization of Knowledge in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand by IIIT.
He won the Bronze Award for Animation Category entitled "Al-Kahfi" and Promising Award for Animation Category entitled "Al-Biruni" at IWFF'13 (Islamic World Film Festival 2013).
