Expert Profile


Dr. Sharifah Nabilah Syed Salleh is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She obtained her PhD in Economics from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya, and completed her Master of Economics and Bachelor of Economics (Honours) at International Islamic University Malaysia and has been awarded the Best Student Award for Master of Economics at the 30th Convocation of International Islamic University Malaysia in 2014. 

Her research interest includes labour economics, gender studies, social protection, and zakat. She has been engaged in multiple economics research and consulting projects for agencies such as the Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC), the World Bank Malaysia, and the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER). She was also a Research Associate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Malaysia Country Office on the Project entitled “An Engagement Facility to Provide Rapid and Flexible Policy and Technical Advisory to Support the Planning Process of National Development Plans (Covid-19 Support)” and supporting the institutions with other tasks. She is also an Affiliate of the Global Labor Organization (GLO).
