Expert Profile
Muhammad Kamil bin Che Hasan obtained his Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) (Nursing) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Following his graduation, he began his nursing career at Kota Bharu Medical Centre and later joined Prince Court Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Subsequently, he was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and concurrently worked as a Staff Nurse on a scheduled basis at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan. He furthered his studies by pursuing a Master in Nursing (Orthopaedics & Traumatology) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, completing it within two years. From August 2014 to February 2015, he obtained a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Nursing from International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur. In 2024, he graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Studies from IIUM. Muhammad Kamil held the position of Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) at IIUM from July 2013 to September 2015 before embarking on his Ph.D. in Nursing at The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, which he completed in March 2019. He later served as Deputy Dean (Academic and Industrial Linkages) from April 2020 to July 2021. Currently, he is the Dean, Kulliyyah of Nursing (2021-now) and an Associate Professor (2023-now) at the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing. He also holds the position of Adjunct Professor at five international universities (2024–2025). Additionally, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Care Scholars (January 2022–December 2027) and is the Chairman of The Nursing Council of Public Universities (2025–2026). Prior to this, he served as a member of the same organisation (2013–2015, 2020-2021) and as its Deputy Chairman (2022–2024). He is also the Deputy President of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Nurses Assosiation (MONA) (2025-2027), Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Nurses Association (MNA) IIUM branch (2024-2025), and a life member of several professional organisations, including the Malaysian Nurses Association, the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals, the Malaysian Orthopaedic Nurses Association, and the Malaysian Osteoporosis Association. His areas of interest include rehabilitative nursing, patient safety, musculoskeletal health, chronic pain, promotion of healthy ageing, prevention of falls, orthopaedics and traumatology nursing, with a focus on using mixed-methods approaches and health-related intervention trials.
